Happy Monday everyone. Time for the weekly roundup of things that have happened (or have not happened) and to look forward to the week to come.

I have to start first with the Denver Comic Con, which I was attendance. It was a fantastic time but I won’t go into great detail as I will be posting an update later with all that, but I will say something about geeks. They are wonderful things.

I am a geek. I say that freely and with pride. Now there was a time, not too long ago, when that would not have been the case. There was a time when calling someone a geek was a terrible insult. It was something to hide from, to be ashamed of, It meant you were different. Today it is not something to be ashamed of but oddly it still means you are different. It’s just now we celebrate in that diversity. I suppose its easy to just lump the whole geek world into one big category, but that simply is not the case. There is a huge range of geekdom out there and it is wide and varied. And the beautiful thing is that for the most part everyone gets along and everyone is extremely accepting. That’s what is great about a Con, a wild and off-the-wall group of people coming together to just revel in the joy of being weird.

But it’s more than that of course. It’s not just being weird. Being a geek also means creativity. There are artists, and writers, and performers, and directors, and designers, and so much more. This is not just simply the guests and celebrities but also the audience and attendees. To walk around that floor and to see so many people reveling in creativity is such a joy. To be a geek is to be an artist in every sense of that word. And there are so many mediums to work in.

I’m proud to be a part of that world.

Coming This Week

Okay so last week I promised to post a Monsters & Memories about of Frankenstein which as it turned out did not happen. In my own defense I did not get to complete that post because I have been vigorously revising a couple of short stories to get them ready to submit for publication. So this time it was creative work getting in the way of creative work, which I’m okay with.

There will be a DCC wrap-up post as I mentioned above (with pictures) maybe later today or tomorrow. I’m planning on a Temptations & Trespasses as well but it will probably be a bit shorter than usual, maybe, well see. And lastly, I ‘m going to do a bit of a rant about Doctor Who in a very rambly-wambly manner.
