All That is Gold Does Not Glitter
I am re-reading The Lord of the Rings (again) and came upon this poem (again). It is in the letter that Gandalf leaves for the hobbits in Bree. I’ve always loved this so I thought I’d share, nothing more significant than that. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
All That is Gold Does Not Glitter
by J.R.R. Tolkien
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
