Goodbye Old Friend
It is time to bid farewell to an old friend. Through thick and thin, good times and bad she was always there. She was always reliable, always available when I needed her but now she is gone. The old green Subaru Forrester is dead at last.
Through 10 years, 200,000 miles and 9 states she carried me. She was transportation, yes, but more than that. She was a portable concert hall, a hotel room, a dog kennel and a child’s playhouse. She helped move friends and haul firewood.
She carried soccer teams and out-of-state family. She kept us dry on camping trips when the tent leaked and cool on summer days when the sun blazed. Over mountains, across deserts, prairies and plains she carried me. And when the time had come she died just a few feet from my home. She carried me home one last time.
Goodbye old girl, you did good.
